“If you are red in Antigua, you are red in Dominica” – Skerrit
St John’s, Antigua – 7 June 2025

Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has reaffirmed the enduring alliance between the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) and the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), declaring that the two are bound by shared values and history.
Addressing a jubilant crowd at the ABLP headquarters on Friday night, Skerrit proclaimed, “If you are red in Antigua, you are red in Dominica,” drawing cheers from supporters of both parties during a celebration marking the DLP’s 70th anniversary.
Skerrit lauded Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the people of Antigua and Barbuda for their consistent solidarity with Dominica—particularly during times of crisis. He recalled the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, when Antigua was one of the first to respond with tangible support.
“When Maria hit, Gaston Browne and the Antiguan people were there with us,” he said. “They stood by our side, and we will never forget that.”
Skerrit used the opportunity to reflect on the DLP’s legacy over the past 70 years, noting that the party has held office for 43 of those years and transformed Dominica’s landscape through investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
“When we came into government, only 44% of children went to high school, and just 7% of high school graduates went on to college. Today, that number has changed dramatically,” he said, highlighting policies that have expanded access to education and healthcare.
He pointed to the construction of a new international airport, marina, cruise village, and a cargo port—all funded domestically—as evidence that the DLP is still delivering results. “At 70, Labour is still working,” he said.
The Dominican leader warned of the shifting global landscape, stressing the need for regional solidarity. “It’s a cold world out there. Big countries care less about us than they did 10 or 20 years ago,” he told the audience. “If Antigua prospers, Dominica prospers.”

Skerrit also addressed recent electoral reforms in Dominica, including the introduction of a voter confirmation process for citizens listed on the electoral roll. He said the changes were aimed at ensuring fair and transparent elections.
Skerrit extended an invitation to those outside of Labour’s fold, stating, “You can’t beat us—join us. We are a party of inclusion, ready to work with anyone who puts country first.”
He concluded by thanking the ABLP for hosting the event and said that the strong ties between the two parties—and their people—will endure.
“We don’t just have a home in Dominica. We have a home right here in Antigua too,” he said.

Talk is cheap. You have been making all these great strides over the years but just a few years on the eve of our general elections, you came here to tell your countrymen to vote for the ALP because there was nothing for them to come back to, so what’s happening now? You sound sooo much like the Money-Hawk but why shouldn’t you? At least you both have some things in common, one of which is prominent internationally. Have you ever met Mehul Choksi personally?
You are known by the friends you keep. Those were the words of my late Mom.Birds of the same feather sticks together, Browne and Skerrit. They are the Choksi duo singing on the same choir.
Ah! Crap! Red & blue color in politics symbolize the polarization between capitalism and socialism , something inherited from colonialism that we don’t even understand, did we invent any of this? No! So cut the crap, fact is the poor masses are uneducated and illiterate and so color is used as the ideology driving force, they don’t have no understanding of why they must be with this color, they don’t have any political ideology that is transformative to their economic circumstances in life from since slavery, in the USA red and blue mean something, because they have a development plan, that is the USA domination of the world resources,so the USA is an eagle flying with one wing blue and the other wing red, they work in synergy for the purpose of soaring high above other nations, could we say there is any development plan in Antigua that UPP (blue) and ALP (red) follow? When ALP gets into office it destroy all that upp does at the cost of tax payers, a secondary school infrastructure is now called a university, am sure that facility don’t meet high school infrastructure standards in the virgin islands and Puerto Rico, but the ALP thought they must destroy the other parties work, Gaston clap his name on the newly built airport done by UPP , and on we go.
This guy skerrit will get what he reap in the vissitude of time, he is a wicket dictator who got power at a young age and feel he is entitled to rule the Dominica people for life stealing all their monies living lavishly, foisting the police force and the Caribbean police to tear gas his people for trivial things, his stolen wealth gives him that state capture that lets him influence the Caribbean security force to his bidding and the judiciary,so too is Gaston why they feel so comfortable together, the entitlement bunch.
The only Reason Skerritt and the Dominica Labor Party is in power is almost identical to the same Problem ABLP is in Government. Weak opposition who doesn’t know their Front from their Back. Too much infighting amongs themself, and cant come up with solutions and ideas that interest the electorate. I was Born in the Heart of Labor in Dominica..My Town of Portsmouth is the only constituency who voted for Labor Party and never Change for the whole 70yrs.We the people of Portsmouth are treated like second class and taken for granted, and just Broken promises..Skerritt talking about Health Care? We have a New hospital, and just imagine if you don’t have money to buy medication Dog Better than you..I am in Hospital and my family have to go out in private pharmacy to buy medication to take back to the Hospital so i can be treated. They want you to eat healthy but cost of living is so high, and the money we work for is so small, we cannot have a healthy Diet. Dominica is number 1 in the Caribbean with men having prostate cancer and dying from it. You go to public clinic not even Blood pressure medication one can get on a regular basis. They Building clinics all over but no nurses,Doctors and medication there. Only white elephants.I supported labor party all my life in Dominica but could never do that again unless i see real job opportunities created, The building of the administration building so we don’t have to go to Roseau just for a driver’s license, Birth certificate, Passport, Custom ect. Too many Broken promises. This idea Red in Dominica is Red in Antigua is for people who don’t vote on issues. They vote party loyalty. I was Red Dominica and is still UPP in Antigua. There was a time i was Red in Antigua unril The Betrayal and underminding of PAPA BIRD by Lester Bird and Freeland and others.Right now in Dominica we need fresh Blood and a new Opposition party. Not the Bunch of Lazy, obstructionists, power Hungry, tired UWP men.Right now if things don’t change in Portsmouth i am not voting for no politicsl party..
Yet Antigua not coming to DA to campaign but Dominica going to Antigua. We don’t see anything wrong with that?
#@Dominican You are so wrong. In Between 2018 and 2019 Gaston Browne was in Dominica at a political Rally in Portsmouth, (my Town) organized by The Dominica Labor Party.I was so mad i wanted to protest by wearing my UPP tshirt at the Rally. This gives me a negative feeling about DLP. I have not voted for DLP Since. We need a new Opposition Party in Dominica
