Hundreds of family members, friends, classmates and residents have gathered for a candlelight vigil in memory of 18-year-old Brianna Clarke, a culinary student who was shot dead in Point on March 26.
The vigil, organised by her family, began at Baker’s Corner in the Point community on Thursday night before mourners walked through Bryons Street and Hand Street, stopping briefly near the location where Clarke was found. The procession ended at Paradise Cove, where tributes, prayers and reflections were shared.
Candles and phone lights illuminated the route as the crowd moved in silence, with music and song later forming part of the final gathering.

Clarke’s grandmother, Blondelle Hopkins, described her as a calm and gentle presence in the family, recalling her love of cooking and her dislike of conflict. She also performed an emotional rendition of Tian Winter’s Glass House, saying it was one of her granddaughter’s favourite songs.
Family members spoke of Clarke’s aspirations to become a private chef, while her sister, Oshari Joseph, described her as her “best friend,” with whom she shared a close childhood bond.
Other relatives and friends remembered her as quiet, kind and compassionate, saying she had a way of making people feel valued. One friend said she “always had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued and loved.”
Clarke and another victim, Lewis, were shot outside their Hand Street residence on the morning of March 26. Police have since detained two suspects, aged 19 and 24, as investigations continue.
Her funeral is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 2:30pm at St Andrew’s Anglican Church.

This case is already a cold case. This one must hit Villa & Point hard.
Where are the CCTV footages, the doorbell and surveillance videos.
This area on HANS Street lets out on to Bryson St or Athill St and Alfred Peters or Amy Byer Streets to leave the area.
The question is why is the Community so, so, so damn quiet and seem to be scared about giving up the clues to help solve these murders?
Growing in this Community, I return for a stint from 2001 to 2005. I began learning CHAMIL FISHING from Cousin Peter. I had time on my hands and many of the youths even grown men, thought, that FISHING was dirty work.
Anyway, we’d leave for sea from Dredge Bay at around, 9 pm or so and spent the next 12 hours at sea, dropping and hauling the CHAMIL NET from Dredge Bay to Five Islands and BACK and if we were spending the whole day we’d do HALCYON COVE back to DREDGE BAY.
Beautiful and serene moments on that sea, rooking in the boat and looking at stars, meteors etc dance across the Milky Way.
Did we catch fish! Snapper, grunt, old wife, angel, doctor, mullet! I can’t see how Anyone living on those islands think that fishing is dirty work. Fishing is money!
Anyways, one night at around 8:30 pm, I stopped by the brick oven bakery shop next to Pam’s on Thames/Newgate Streets. Of course, you had to go through the area where the bread was prepared and baked, because the front door was closed by 4PM.
While waiting on service, a youth raised his shirt and showed off his GLOCK, in his waste, he did draw it, he was just being BOASTFUL regarding what he’d do, “if any bady fuck wid me, ah dis dem ah get, innah dem pussyhole” was his comment.
This was 2002! Guns don’t scare everyone; so, I watched his hand and kept my cool. He did lower his shirt to cover the GLOCK in his waste.
As I left the bakershop, there was a brother who goes by the name Shabazz, at least that’s how I heared he was referred to. I don’t know him, but I turned to him and say, “R U nah want dem kinda vibZ innah DADLI, ‘cause tings will get sticky, icky, and bloody.”
The youths are coming home to roost and the authorities are not CLUELESS, as to what to do, they’re playing catch up to the lifestyles of the STREET THUGS. Let’s hope, that they’re learning fast because for CRIMES like these, to become COLD this fast in a tight community like what surrounds HANNS Street, says a lot about trust between the community and law enforcement.
