The resort had accused him of stealing shrimp and salmon in 2015, leading to his firing.

The Industrial Court ruled on January 12, ordering the hotel to pay Baltimore $20,121.51 by February 15. The court criticized the lack of procedural fairness, noting Baltimore’s temporary role change without proper training.

It highlighted the resort’s failure to involve Baltimore in the investigation, inform him of allegations, or provide a chance to defend himself.

The court deemed the resort’s reliance on an unreliable source and hasty judgment unreasonable.

  3. So at the end of the day, it is not that he didn’t steal it…all the court is saying is that due process wasn’t followed. Take note employers.

  4. Ignorant management. I unfortunately had to deal with this situation of petty theftseveral times.

    The quickest, easiest and cheapest option is to have a meeting with the employee, lay out the evidence and give the employee the option of immediate resignation or criminal prosecutions.
    Unsurprisingly the ones who protested their innocence the loudest were the fastest to resign.
