Rafael Navas Gutierrez Construction Manager explains project phases to Tourism Minister

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has provided an update on the investments in the country’s tourism sector, stating that the construction of a new hotel at the former Halcyon Cove Hotel site is progressing well.

According to him, the hotel will be ready to welcome guests by the end of the year.

The Sunwing Group’s investment in the Halcyon Cove Hotel is reported to be the closest to completion.

The new hotel will be larger and improved, featuring over 300 new rooms and several over-the-water bungalows, aimed at creating a luxury resort in the eastern section of Antigua.

Additionally, the Sandals Group, owners of the nearby property at Dickenson Bay beach, have expressed their intention to expand their resort as well.

Furthermore, there are plans for a luxury development in Barbuda, separate from the ongoing developments at PLH (possibly another hotel or resort), which will be finalized through an upcoming agreement.

The prime minister also mentioned an undisclosed well-known luxury brand partnering with the government for a tourism investment.

He expressed his satisfaction with the impressive level of investments by PLH, describing it as one of the most noteworthy tourist developments in the Caribbean.
