The Elegant Hotels Group has been busy with expansion plans this past year, starting with the opening of the Waves Hotel and Spa in Barbados last year, followed by the announcement of the new Sales and Marketing relationship with the Landings Resort and Spa in St. Lucia in March 2017 and the announcements of our two upcoming new openings with Treasure Beach, Barbados as well as Hodges Bay Resort & Spa in Antigua, both by Elegant Hotels. This creates a portfolio of nine uniquely different and luxurious, Elegant properties in the Caribbean.
In our latest communication post hurricane at the end of September, we explained that the recent storms had caused delays in the shipment of critical equipment via the Port of Miami prohibiting the timely completion of all work at Hodges Bay. We have fully assessed the situation and have taken the strategic decision to set the new opening date of Hodges Bay Resort & Spa to July 1, 2018.
Overall, construction of the resort is almost complete but it is late in the season to open the resort for winter business, and we would like to take the opportunity to refine all the operational details for a successful opening in the summer in line with the standards that you are accustomed to from Elegant Hotels.
In anticipation of the opening of this newly built property, we are excited to share some details about the amenities and experiences at the resort. Hodges Bay Resort & Spa is set to become the pinnacle of luxury on the Caribbean island of Antigua and will offer an all-suite and villa concept for the discerning traveller.
Hodges Bay is the first Antiguan property to join the Elegant Hotels’ portfolio of luxury hotels. With its
secluded setting on a white-sand beach and impressive choice of facilities and activities, not to mention the luxurious suites, it ticks all the boxes for an indulgent beach escape.
As well as a range of new concepts, Hodges Bay Resort & Spa will feature Elegant Signature Inclusions as a standard. These include free daily breakfast, non-motorised water sports, exceptional dining with signature theme nights, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property, beach & pool ambassador service, Flying Fish Kids Club & Teens Club, bespoke tours and daily activities including culinary demonstrations and mixology classes.
In total, the resort will have 79 premium accommodation options offering a total of 122 guestrooms which range from Oceanfront Townhouses to Ocean Club Villas and six styles of Suites, many with
outdoor Jacuzzis.
Families and Friends will love the Townhouses and Villas that feature up to four bedrooms, as there will be plenty of space for everyone to stay. Townhouse or Villa guests will live in style with designer kitchens that can be pre-stocked prior to arrival, enjoy a private terrace with dedicated butlerservices, priority check-in and restaurant reservations. Private in room chefs can also be arranged for total holiday indulgence.
The ever-popular Flying Fish Club will be featured at the resort for younger children whilst teenagers can enjoy the Connect Teen Lounge. Guests can take advantage of the heated beachfront infinity pool and the stunning family lounge pool or, for those seeking more water adventures the resort will feature plenty of family water sports challenges. There will also be themed nights for families, special entertainment designed with little ones in mind and a range of outdoor family activities. Babysitting services will be offered at an additional charge.
Hodges Bay Resort & Spa will feature four innovative dining outlets showcasing the eclectic and distinctive flavours of Antigua. From fine cuisine to tapas and buffet-style, as well as six bars, including an ocean side infinity swim-up bar, a coffee shop and an al fresco all day poolside grill. Breakfast will be included as standard and a high-end selection of dining choices is available for all, as well as a self-catering option for villa guests.
The new spa will be the epitome of calm and rejuvenation with five therapy rooms, an advanced Swiss technology hydro-pool and relaxation areas throughout for guests to enjoy between treatments. Travellers who want to keep trim whilst on holiday will be able to take advantage of the new state of the art fitness centre, indoor and outdoor fitness classes such as yoga and Pilates, plus a range of complimentary water sports and new tennis courts. Additionally, there will be personal trainers and tennis coaches on hand to help guests improve their game.
