The female driver of a vehicle which struck a child on Popeshead Street on Friday has been located.

She allegedly continued driving after the Villa Primary School boy was hit.

Later on, Friday, the woman was seen at the scene of the accident with police officers. It is not certain whether she turned herself in or was apprehended by lawmen.

She has not been charged but is assisting police with their investigation.

The boy, approximately ten-years-old, remains a patient at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre.

He has several broken bones after his legs were mangled during the ordeal.

The boy was crossing the street with his friends after school when he was hit by the car. The driver did not stop. Emergency Medical Services arrived and took him to hospital shortly after the incident.
