Historical shipwreck located in English Harbour

1

Exciting new discovery. We have located a historical shipwreck in English Harbour!!!

Preliminary results are a wooden shipwreck more than 40 meters long and built to 18th century navy specifications. This means massive timber frames and thick planking.

Amazingly, the site has remained intact for all these years.

The site was reported by Maurice Belgrave several years ago and we have been working on getting a project together since.

The National Parks are partnered with underwater archaeologists from the University of the Antilles in Martinique and supported by ABSAR.

The current project includes a remote surveying component and divers mapping the wreck on site.

We will be releasing more information as the mapping and analysis continues.

  1. This is exciting! Bravo Maurice and great plan & work from the various team members.
Carefully explored, with a story pieces together, and this is a tremendous new tourism draw & story.
Please, politicians, stay far away & let these dedicated people who know and understand what they are doing, handle this.
