Judge rules in favour of Wendel Robinson

Former Commissioner Wendel Robinson

SOURCE STATE MEDIA: The nation’s High Court has dismissed the Police Service Commission’s application for a stay on the judgment which declared the termination of Wendel Robinson as police commissioner illegal.

Justice Ann- Marie Smith says the stay was dismissed because it was declaratory not executory, meaning, it did not order any action to be taken.

It means that her ruling – which declared that the termination of former Commissioner of Police Robinson was unlawful and a later decision to appoint Atlee Rodney as Commissioner of Police is also unlawful – stands.
According to her ruling Robinson is the substantive commissioner of police.
Assessment of damages is scheduled for April 30 2021.

Meanwhile, the Commission’s representative Dr. David Dorsett says he will move full steam ahead to appeal the ruling.

  1. Clearly neither the Police Service Commission nor the Government wants Wendel Robinson to be Commissioner of Police. The court has already ruled that he was dismissed unfairly. I don’t think that Mr Robinson is seeking to be returned as Commissioner of Police. Sometimes we have to count our loses and move on. Pay the man off once and for all and stop the gymnastics with will only cost Tax payers more with all this unnecessary appeal. Maybe it’s time to look for a New Police Service Commission.

  2. Wendell Robinson.Keep the faith, even the case goes to privy council you will still win, hands down.Them dont hear Wendell say he dont want toi be police commissioner again.Pls Dorsett and all of you stop wasting time.Pay the man when the time come for damages to be awarded to him..Liat former workers, hotel workers, taxi drivers need stimulus too much hungry people in the country.Leave Wendell and go look aboutt the people.

  3. Did the Government tell the Lawyer for the PSC to appeal the decision. Are we the taxpayers paying that Lawyer to appeal the verdict. In my opinion,he should only be paid if he wins going forward. Those damn Lawyers are milking at the bottomless pit.Are they the only Law Firm on Antigua to handle Government cases. Is it because a member of said Law Firm is the Speaker of the House. There are too many conflicts of interests in Antigua and Barbuda.

  4. This is the same Dorset that appealed over and over again with Leroy King. Where is Leroy King now? Its a waste of tax payers’ money to continue pursuing this. What did the government get out of the case against Giselle Isaac? A loss. Serpent? A loss. They need to stop stroking their egos and costing us so much money.
