The High Commission congratulates Shanna Challenger and Kissy Gomes on being awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Shanna currently serves as the Restoration Programme Coordinator in the Department of Environment where she works to protect critically endangered species and habitat. She will pursue an MSc in Conservation Biology at the University of Kent.
Fostering global relationships, driving positive change, and serving others are part of Kissy’s ethos as a young professional seeking to expand the global reach of Antigua and Barbuda. As such, she will pursue an MSc in International Relations at the University of Aberdeen.

Again, we congratulate these two outstanding young ladies who now join the ranks of young Antiguan and Barbuda scholars receiving prestigious awards and wish them the very best in their academic pursuits.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! “The revolution and women’s liberation go together. We do not talk of women’s emancipation as an act of charity or out of a surge of human compassion. It is a basic necessity for the revolution to triumph.” – Capitaine Thomas Isidore Noël Sankara!, President Burkina Faso, Assassinated 1987!
Congratulations to these talented young women on this splendid achievement! Here’s to continued success and All The Best!
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” – MLK!
