High Chance of Tropical Depression Formation in the Central Tropical Atlantic

0

NHC – As the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season unfolds, meteorologists are keeping a close eye on a developing weather system in the Central Tropical Atlantic.

Known as AL96, this broad area of low pressure is currently situated approximately 1000 miles east-northeast of the Leeward Islands.

Despite its current disorganization, forecasters predict that environmental conditions will likely favor gradual development over the coming days.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) assigns a 40 percent chance of AL96 becoming a tropical depression within the next 48 hours, with a higher likelihood of 70 percent over the next week.

Residents in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico regions are urged to stay updated on the latest developments and prepare accordingly.
