Heather Nanton Antiguan Aviator passes
The early days of Antigua’s rise in Aviation set a calmly sophisticated style of service which our own Heather Nanton infused into her management techniques.

Those days were for the most part, learning and growing in an industry totally different to our small island economics demanded; persons who understood the courtesies and protocols required, to communicate and serve the elite and business travelers discovering Antigua & Barbuda.
Having achieved the top position at ASA, handling the largest aircraft BOAC/British Airways for decades, among other aircraft, Heather passed on all she learnt down the line of airport workers, through the Airlines Association and Airport Operators Committee, which designed the high standards of VCBIA in those days.
As the first woman out on the Ramp operating at that level, Heather Nanton was an aviation example, and all who came after, standing on her shoulders, have demonstrated that size is no deterrent to high standards.
Antiguan Women in Aviation thank you dear Heather.

I am truly saddened to learn of the passing of Miss Nanton, as we referred to her. I was one of the young ones she took under her wing at ASA and taught us the best values in customer service and operations in the industry. A quiet disposition, that led from the front with a smile and a character, leaving no doubt who was in charge, that got the best out of the many personalities at Airport Services. From ramp attendant to customer facing agent, or if you were from Barnes Hill, Briggins Road, Gambles or Green Bay, we were her family and Miss Nanton treated everyone with the same care and attention, sometimes so undeserving. She enabled growth, rewarded excellence and sent many of us on international training, on all aspects of airline operations, in the UK and USA. In many ways she opened our eyes, a catalyst in those early days of work that shaped our pathways to so many career goals. I trust her dear Karen and her family, her siblings and their families can find the comfort and understanding, that her seasons of flourish were outstanding, she has touched many souls and shaped many lives in ways unimaginable. We thank you for sharing her with us, and we will forever thank her, for making us better.
