Health Authorities Deny Cruise Ship Permission To Dock In Antigua

Press statement:

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment continues to monitor its ports of entry as part of its plan to protect the health of its citizens, residents and visitors.

In preparing to receive the Aida Perla cruise ship, scheduled to dock in Antigua and Barbuda on February 4, 2020, officials reviewed the Maritime Health Declaration submitted on February 3, 2020, and discovered that it was insufficient to make a proper assessment of the health situation on the vessel. As a result, additional crucial information was requested, but not provided in a timely manner. Consequently, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment was not able to support a decision to allow the ship to berth and recommended the cancellation of its call at the St. John’s Harbour.

The Government has therefore made the decision to disallow the ship to make its scheduled call tomorrow (Tuesday February 4th, 2020).

  1. Is that the same ship St.Lucia and Dominica refused? I hope this doesn’t damage cruise ships relations with these islands. Just saying.

  2. What about this Phrase does no one understand??? “discovered that it was insufficient to make a proper assessment of the health situation on the vessel. As a result, additional crucial information was requested, but not provided in a timely manner.”

And If 2 ports turned them away ..why try for a 3rd port? and if you do..try get things in orders to present the it is indeed SAFE to land

Our HEALTH and our CHILDRENS Health comes first

  3. Health authorities decided late Monday not to allow the Aida Perla – apparently carrying (several) passengers so its not one or two people..you all want to take risks with people’s lives? and they were suffering a (respiratory illness) – to make its scheduled call to Antigua, days after the vessel was also denied entry in St Lucia and Dominica.

    Nar son..ITS NOT WORTH IT
