The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) Electricity Business Unit is dedicated to providing a reliable and safe power supply to all customers.

Due to increased rainfall in recent months, vegetation growth, particularly trees, has accelerated, posing a significant risk to our overhead power lines.

In response to this challenge, we are intensifying our efforts in vegetation management.

However, our teams frequently face difficulties with property owners who are hesitant to allow the pruning of trees that could potentially interfere with power lines. Trees that grow too close to these lines can cause faults, outages, and safety hazards.

We kindly request that our customers be mindful when planting trees on their property and avoid planting them close to utility lines. Property owners are also reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that trees on their property are pruned and maintained at a safe distance from power lines.

If trees on private property are found to be interfering with power lines, the removal of any debris resulting from pruning or cutting will be the responsibility of the property owner.

To report trees that are interfering with power lines, please contact our Electricity Fault Line at 311. APUA is committed to ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply and remains dedicated to working with the community to maintain safe and efficient utility services.
