The reigning Jumpy Monarch Ricardo Drue says Young Lyrics should have been included in the list of semifinalists for the 2018 party monarch competition.
Young Lyrics performed both in the Groovy and Jumpy segments of the competition last week but failed to go past the quarterfinals.
“This brother did not make it into the semifinals and I going to stand here and say he needs to be in the semifinals,” Drue said while performing at LOL fete over the weekend.
The monarch added that the young singer “is the future of Antigua and Barbuda.”
Drue has taken the Young Lyrics under his wings since last year when his protege’s competition also ended at the quarter-final stage.
Lyrics sang his popular tune Before We Leave in this year’s quarterfinals only to be cut yet again. (More Below)
The semifinals groovy will instead see Alvin Livingstone (Bout to Get Started), Bernie (I’m Not an Alcoholic), Claudette Peters (Arm’s Length), Drastic (OYE), Ebony T (Trouble), Epic Byke (Carnivalist), Ezzy Rattigan (Syrian Soca), Janine (Hear ‘Bout Me), K. Lee (Grab It), Kimmy (Chug It), Laurena Davis (No Restriction), Lyricksman (SSSStama Man), Menace (Nar Tek You Back), Set On (On the Road), Zamoni (Work It).
The jumpy semis will have Alvin Livingstone (YOLO), Bernie (Never Surrender), Claudette Peters (Mash it Up), DJ Who (The List), Drastic (Supa Saiyan), Ebony T (Sweet Misbehaving), Kimmy (Bring D Vybes), Laurena Davis (Wining Anthem), Le Pee Cing (Mas Man), Lyricksman (LSA Jam), Manace (Friends), Soca Giant (Over and Over), Supa Mario (Bring D Power Back), Tian Winter, Zamoni (Shell Shock).

Lyrics Soong is real nice but his performance did not make it at all. You have it bring it. The song alone does not take you through.
Ricardo Drue like how most things are doing your statement equates to a conflict of interest and self centered. Maybe your statement was just tongue in cheek to hype the crowd during your performance. Mind the judges don’t have that against you. Antiguans can be vindictive!!!!!
Trust me sometimes we all wonder wat is it the judges looks for cause at the end of the day soon there will be no standard for soxa monarch they pass who they feel they want to pass..i guess it will be a commedy fete soon

Some of u artist want put ou music that sound so hype but when time fu perform the full of ….. and cant shit. Thought he should and have been too…. wayy suprised ….young lyrics is not in the semi- finals .but at the end of the day we know who winning.AT LEAST DRU IS GIVING YOUNG AND UPRISING ARTISTS A HAND.cant say the same for many greedy people.
