  1. Even though the 39ers were the men and women who founded the Antigua Trades and Labour Union, the first workers union in Antigua and Barbuda. They were not a political party.

The Antigua Labor Party was an outgrowth of the Union (ATLU).

While all of The 39ers may have lived their lives as members of The ALP (ABLP), it’s unfortunate and somewhat sad to see an important symbol of resistance to Colonialism; that should part of a proud history of the entire Country of Antigua and Barbuda is turned into an opportunistic charade.

School children should be studying who these men were, and what were those moments and conditions they were fighting against.

  2. If thou art rich, thou art poor. For like an ass whose back with ingots bows.Thou bearest they heavy riches but a journey and death unloads thee.
