Police have arrested two teenagers for the brutal murder and alleged rape of 68-year-old Margaret Dawson.

Regional Commander Phillip Azore told the News Room that the teenagers are both from Albouystown, Georgetown and were wanted for other criminal offences.

“So far two persons are in custody; we would have recovered some items in their possession belonging to the woman. Information we are getting from them so far is credible and its information to work with,” the Commander said.

The woman’s cellphone was found on one of the suspect and her rings were found in possession of the other suspect.

The News Room understands that the police are on the hunt for a third suspect.

Dawson, a Security Guard attached to the Professional Guard Service for the past eight years, was found dead at the corner of the road at the Le Repentir Cemetery in Georgetown early Monday not far from her home.

The mother of ten children left her Albouystown home Sunday evening for work but never showed up.

She was found lying on the road without any clothes on; there were injuries to her face and head and her personal belongings were also missing.

The elderly woman was originally from Timheri, East Bank Demerara but was staying in Albouystown because of the coronavirus. The woman’s family is calling for justice to be served.
