Pathologists Confirm Adrianna Younge Died by Drowning Amid Ongoing Public Outcry
A forensic autopsy has confirmed that 11-year-old Adrianna Younge died by drowning, following the discovery of her body in a hotel pool in East Bank Essequibo, Guyana.
The examination was carried out at the Georgetown Public Hospital under heightened public scrutiny, with a three-member team of pathologists—including specialists from the United States and Barbados—working to rule out foul play.
According to family attorney Darren Wade, the preliminary findings indicate no signs of violence or sexual assault. However, the advanced state of decomposition complicated efforts to determine the precise timeline and circumstances of her death.
Wade addressed public concerns raised over discoloration of Adrianna’s body and reports that cotton was found in her nostrils. Pathologists later confirmed that no such material was present.
The child had been reported missing days before her body was found, a development that has ignited protests across the country. Outside the hospital, tensions boiled over as police deployed tear gas to disperse a crowd of demonstrators demanding answers and justice.
A final report from the forensic team is expected to be released shortly.
