LOOP NEWS – The murder toll on the Turks and Caicos Islands has increased following the murder of a man in Kew Town, Providenciales yesterday afternoon.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) reported that it received reports at 2:41 pm that gunshots were heard in the vicinity of the Pink Bar and Musgrove Close.

On arrival, cops found Derrick “Dope Baby” Missick lying on the ground motionless and bleeding from several gunshot wounds.

Police later received reports that a man and woman were at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre (CHMC) seeking medical attention for gunshot wounds.

This is the second murder on the Turks and Caicos Islands in less than 24 hours and the 10th for 2023.

Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams described yesterday’s incident as heartbreaking.

Adams assured that the required resources have been committed in pursuit of the criminal elements bent on causing distress and fear to the law-abiding.

“We have to work together to prevent crime from happening. I am appealing to those with information on illegal activities, to say something.

Help us in apprehending these perpetrators and bring them to justice,” he said.
