Firearm & Ammunition Found at Deep Water Harbour
A firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized at the Deep Water Harbour on Monday.
Police and Custom officers were conducting a joint operation at the main sea port on January 15, when they discovered a 9mm pistol and 18 rounds of matching ammunition concealed inside a package label as the holy bible.
The items were seized and taken to the police station where further investgations are ongoing.

Wow really?
Why do they keep seizing these items without waiting for someone to come to clear and collect? The same thing is happening with the drugs. This makes no sense unless they do not want to charge and prosecute anyone.
Good question but hope you realize that every package has a sender’s name and address and receivers name and address so in any event person(s) has to answer for such items. The sad part of it is that sometimes the sender or receiver has persons such as family members and friends or paid accomplice working with them to give them information on the items. Which makes it difficult for them to catch anyone.
The Antigua Port of Authority does not have an X-ray scanner machine to check all cargo arrived at the Port. All cargoes coming from the international market are scanned before leaving their ports. Once drugs or illegal items are spotted in any cargo, the destination port authority is notified, which then notifies the chief customs officer, the ONDCP, and the police commissioner. The people in authority, for example, the ONDCP, knew ahead of time the Bible with the weapon was coming, and who it was addressed to.
The police and ONDCP need to let everyone collect their illegal package at the Port, wait for them outside, and then arrest them.
That a how smart them be
Oh please…the package has to be assigned to someone.
Give a break about investigation ongoing..please this need to stop.

Why didn’t the head of the Police tell us how many investigations are ongoing regarding these seizures at the ports rather than boasting how the collect over $1.0M. I wonder if that disappear yet coming to think of it.
Looks like history is repeating itself. A gun in one hand and a Bible in the other!
