Grenada monitoring tropical wave 400 miles east of island

The Meteorological Services at the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) in Grenada has issued a warning for a medium chance of flash flooding within the period Monday night into Tuesday as a tropical wave approaches the area.

The Met Service in a tropical weather outlook (Courtesy the NHC) at 8 am, said a tropical wave is near 55W, approximately 400 nautical miles east of Grenada, moving west at 15 knots.

Scattered moderate convection is noted south of 13N between 48W and 58W.

Based on the current forward speed of the wave, its axis is expected to traverse the island chain early Tuesday morning.

However, induced cloudiness, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are expected from Monday night into Tuesday.

The Met Office has issued a warning for a medium chance of flash flooding within this period.

The Met Office and the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) will continue to monitor this system and provide updates in a timely manner.
