Daquan Browne, a resident of Gray Hill, was issued a fine by the Magistrates’ Court after confessing to charges related to possessing a firearm and ammunition.

The exact location and date of the discovery of the illegal items remain unclear. Browne faced allegations of firearm and ammunition possession and was brought before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh at the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

During the court proceedings, Browne was fined EC$2,000 for possessing the unlicensed firearm. In the event of non-payment, he will serve a six-month prison sentence. Additionally, he was fined EC$500 for the ammunition possession charge.

Failure to pay this fine will result in a three-month term at His Majesty’s Prison. Both fines must be paid in full by August 31, 2023.

On Monday, the police executed a search warrant at Daquan Browne’s residence; however, no illegal items were found.

In an unrelated case, Hakeem Jeffrey from Golden Grove was sentenced to two years in prison for being in possession of a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol and seven 9mm luger rounds of ammunition.

He pleaded guilty to both charges while appearing before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh on Monday.

Jeffrey’s two-year sentence will run concurrently.
