Gov’t Yet to Announce New Director of Public Works Following Crump Reassignment
The government has not yet named a replacement for Aldin Crump as Director of Public Works, though Cabinet has confirmed that an announcement will be made in due course.
During the post-Cabinet media briefing, Chief of Staff Ambassador Lionel Hurst said the decision to reassign Crump to a national infrastructure project was made at the executive level, but details surrounding his replacement remain pending.
“I don’t want to name someone because I might be incorrect,”* Hurst told reporters. *“I’ll wait for the information to come from the official sources.”
Crump, a civil engineer with over four decades of experience, has been selected to assist with the runway rehabilitation project at the V.C. Bird International Airport.
The Ministry of Works later issued a statement confirming his continued employment and key role in ensuring the technical integrity of the project.
Hurst indicated that the reassignment and the appointment of a new director would likely be announced simultaneously.
“Both will be announced at the same time,” he said.
The Public Works Department has faced scrutiny in recent months due to delays in road repairs and growing public frustration with infrastructure conditions.
The upcoming appointment will be closely watched as the ministry moves to restore public confidence and accelerate major development projects.
Until the official announcement is made, the department continues to operate under existing management with oversight from senior officials within the Ministry of Works.
