Gov’t to purchase 12 infrared cleaning devices

Cabinet Notes: The Minister of Health gave the Cabinet a report on the state of affairs of COVID-19 in Antigua and Barbuda. Only one active case of the disease is reported in the state at this time thanks to office cleaners.

Since the first case was reported back in mid-March 2020, a total of 95 cases were recorded; 91 have been cured, three died, and one is actively being treated office cleaners

The fear-mongering by the leader of the UPP that Barnes and Straffie’s would be overflowing with dead bodies, caused by the COVID-19 disease, has proven to be wildly false.

Planning and effective collaboration by the Antigua public, wearing masks, sanitizing and obeying social-distancing rules, have accounted for the absence of community spread of the dreaded disease.

The Minister of Health put forward a proposal to purchase 12 infrared cleaning devices that will end the need to spray chairs and tables with chemical substances in order to sterilize the furniture after each use, by arriving passengers at the V.C. Bird International Airport.

An additional number of devices will also be purchased for use on a trial basis by schools, where chairs and desks are also sterilized at the end of each class in order to reduce the probability of infection.

The devices are being used in heavily-trafficked public spaces in various US cities, and are seen as providing deadly doses of the invisible rays to bacteria and viruses, without the spread of chemical substances.
