Government’s Revenue Continues To Decline

8
Prime Minister Gaston Browne

The Cabinet learned that the revenues collected by the Customs and Excise Division continue to be low, as imports have declined.

Demand has declined as many private-sector workers await the opportunity to return to their jobs and to begin earning and spending.

The Prime Minister, who is also the Minister of Finance, noted that revenue opportunities must also be created.

He debunked the idea of a stimulus package, reiterating the explanation of 16% tax collection of GDP by Antigua and Barbuda, as opposed to 25% of GDP tax collection in other states that are now learning of the growth-impact benefit of lowering taxes.

  1. Of course the revenues of my beloved country will decline as is the case in EVERY single country on this planet! So what’s your point??? When this ugly problem begins to leave this world, I hope it takes along with it the equally ugly traitors of Antigua and Barbuda who seem to relish in the serious challenges currently facing our belovèd island home. How sad!

  2. Things will get better sir. Hang in there. The Almighty Father is an awesome God!!

  3. The Prime Minister and his Cabinet need to take time out and seek God for solutions, not just have a Pastor pray. All of them need to pray and pray like they’ve never done before. They need the Lord’s intervention.

    • Seems like you’re in the Prime Minister and members of Cabinet houses to know what they do and don’t do with their spiritual lives.

  5. As patriotic citizens & residents of this nation, we need to accept reality as it is…. Covid-19 has created a major dent in the GDP of all the countries of the world and more us, the smaller ones on the Caribbean……. Now is the time to make sacrifices and ” band our bellies ” and ride through the storm……. So too, this will come to pass!!
