Government to demand the return of some of its 1,170 vehicles from persons not entitled to them

CABINET NOTES:

The Cabinet learned that 74 properties are leased or rented by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda—many before 2014.

The list of properties and the amounts paid in rent were shared by the Minister of Works following an investigation.

The Minister of Works also revealed that 1,170 vehicles are registered to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and they are regularly provided maintenance and gasoline by the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB).

It is the intention of the Government to reduce that number significantly by asking those who are not entitled to return those vehicles.

That order will come in writing.

  1. 1,170 vehicles are registered to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and they are regularly provided maintenance and gasoline by the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board. The story would suggest that many persons with those vehicles are no longer in the employ of the Government, yet they are still enjoying the benefits of having a government owned vehicle with all the perks and amenities. What a waste! I am very surprised that it has taken this long to address this situation which by the look of things have cost the government thousands of dollars in maintenance cost and gasoline.

  2. You must stop the abuse of government buses. Even on Sunday you can see full government buses, especially school buses driving all over the country. You would wonder which school these big school children are going. But then again, this is Antigua, and these things have become normal way of life. If you need a bus and you are the driver of such a bus, you just go to the carpool and pick up the bus to transport your church members. Antigua is lawless when it comes to these things.

    • … and all under the watch of over 50 years of Birdism and Browneism. Go figure!

There you have it folks, this is the DUE DILIGENCE from the ABLP. Absolute wasters of our tax paying dollars 💵

      • WOW you just LEAPFROG 10 years of the UPP Administration. You are so good. But then again. We ran government from the Opposition bench.
Keep it up Brix. One time you praise the fact that our youth can now be educated, but you refuse to give commendation to the man that made it possible. You just cannot have it both ways.
I have cried out about the misuse of the Carpool for many years. But politicians both UPP and ALP always are fearful to make certain decisions. It seems that Lady Browne has more balls then all the men that went before her. Let’s wait and see. At one point one minister had commissioned an audit of the vehicle pool. I believe that is what brought to light the buses issue. The one Lovell and the two other stooches still have to answer for.

  3. OK, let Brixtonian recalculate the figures for you @ From The Sideline.

Now let me work this one out:

50 years of Birdism and Browneism minus 10 years governance from the Spencer years equals 40 years from the former.

Which means Sideline, that 40 years is more than enough time to upgrade Antigua’s infrastructure, paying the citizens what they have worked for, rebuilding the town of St John’s and decent housing for people to live in.

Again, I hope this answers your continued MISINFORMATION … 👍

    • Kaboom 💥 Sidey … 😁

This is why I thoroughly enjoy the cut, thrust and riposte of ANR threads. Beautiful, just beautiful!

    • So, the PLM time doesn’t count either. And that is your national Hero George Walter. 1971 through 1976. Only the UPP time in office you take into consideration. Boy you really leapfrogging around. You must be a Cuban Frog LOL
