Gladys Potter Withdraws from UPP Primary Race

UPP caretaker for St. John’s Rural South, Gladys Potter, has announced her withdrawal from the party’s upcoming primary election. She stated that the branch’s direction did not align with her principles of integrity and unity, prompting her decision.

Potter reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for Antigua and Barbuda’s vulnerable residents and pledged to continue fighting for justice and truth through other platforms. She encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and actively participate in their civic duties.

The UPP primary, set for November 21, will determine a new representative for the constituency.

  1. That should have happened a long time ago. The UPP needs to take a page from Gaston Browne in its candidate selection. The hopeful need to take a page from Maleka, Winston, Lazimeen and Driftwood’s book and drive along the road to Fuve Islands.
Because she finds herself trailing Jermaine Edwards she now attacks the system. Not a drum was heard from her when Dr Benjamin pulled out of a planned primary for that constituency for the last general elections. Was the constituency willed to her? Nooooo. Never.
There is a level of selfishness and greed that overpowers UPP membership. They believe that it must be them and their way or no other way. Why is she now attacking the system rather than falling in line and pledging her support to the better candidate who is Jermaine Edwards?
The UPP is disintegrating because of selfishness. It has no shortage of good men and women in the party however the selfish ones want to lead when they are incapable. Then again why should I blame the. When this behavior is at the very top. The leader doesn’t know the first letter in the worl leadership however he is their presiding over the dismantling and dissolution of the party.

  2. Smart decision on her part, albeit she was pushed out, but it was a good decision for all concerned.
One of the best decisions made by the leadership in its state of toxicity.

Why is others people’s names and emails showing up as mine? It happens periodically. The IT dept or ANR should fix this issue.

  4. “She stated that the branch’s direction did not align with her principles of integrity and unity, prompting her decision.”

So the UPP Rural South branch is not unified and lacks integrity just like the UPP Leadership in general?

    Got it.

  5. wow! I believe Joanne Massiah expressed similar sentiments during the UPP leadership that she contested speaking of the corruption, lies and deceit that permeated that race. “WE WILL NOT LEGITIMIZE THE PROCESS”.

    UPP has NO CREDIBILITY!!!

    • she hasn’t resigned YET! in the meantime remember Damani Tabor refeered to multitudes who are “QUIET QUITTING”

  6. Antigua’s economy continues to spiral out of control, workers are still out of pocket to the tune of $100 Million dollars; pensioners still having to beg for their rightful pensions; poor housing stock continues embarrassing the government; driving on our roads continues to be high risk on a daily basis; power cuts are very high still in 2024; and Freedom of Information Act requests are illegally ignored by Gaston Browne (yet, we must adhere to such requests).

But never mind all the above – and so much more -, however the opposition and their mislead supporters focus is on Gladys Potter and the so-called internal wranglings. Absolutely brainwashed!

THE REAL REASONS WHY THIS COUNTRY WILL NOT RECOVER UNTIL 2028.

Brixtonian telling it like it is … as always!

  7. Gladys memory shart no r–ss. She remember wha she do to Kiron when he beat she in the primary? How she say she nay wuk wid he?

  9. @Straight Shooter

What are u exactly trying to say? I fail to see how you can call Malaka name in the same sentence as winston, driftwood and the lot!

You are getting your wires totally crossed.

I wonder where Malaka is now that you mention it. She surely is not feasting at the feet of Gaston or trying to bring down the UPP for bad mind. I think we forgot what principled politics looks like.

  10. BTW, I think what I elegantly stated ALL STICK. I feel your anxiety, distress and helplessness RED TILL ME DEAD 🥴

  11. @Less We Forget,
She hasn’t resigned publicly yet. The might just go quietly into the dust, like Lovell did.

    @Brixtonian
You’re making yourself out to be foolish at this pont? What’s sticking. Do you know how much the pensioners were owed under the UPP? Doesn’t you notice that the roads are being repaired at a great speed since the PM called out the engineer?

Please objectively acknowledge all of the resignations and wish your party well. It would be a better look for you.
