The government announced today that the Throne Speech will be delivered on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 9:30 am.
That will be the very First Session of Parliament in the post-election period.
It has also been revealed that in the week of April 23, 2018, parliament will convene to consider several bills.
The Attorney General informed the Cabinet on Wednesday that the Barbuda Land (Amendment) Act will be repealed, placing the law in the 2004 situation—before the UPP changed the law. Major developments will continue on a leasehold basis.
“The Parliament will also consider a new law that will allow the government to exchange plots of land in rural Antigua for plots of land within the city of St. John’s that are continuously unkempt and may even have rotting houses situate thereon,” the government said in a statement.
The Parliament may bring forward the new law governing cannabis production, the Attorney General remarked.
