George Wehner’s Campaign Kicks Off with Focus on Education and Infrastructure

United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate George Wehner has launched his campaign for the St. Peter by-election with a focus on addressing long-standing issues in education and infrastructure.

Speaking during an interview on Observer Radio, Wehner outlined a vision for tackling the challenges facing residents in the constituency, particularly in the areas of school conditions and healthcare access.

Wehner described the state of Pares Secondary School as a significant concern, pointing to inadequate facilities and poor academic outcomes. “In 2023, only two students passed both mathematics and English,” he said, underscoring the importance of these subjects for tertiary education.

He called for urgent intervention to improve educational standards and ensure students are better equipped for the future. “True knowledge is light,” he said, quoting the school’s motto. “We are shining a light in the dark corners of this constituency.”

Healthcare services also featured prominently in Wehner’s campaign message. He described the health facilities in St. Peter as “decrepit,” adding that residents have been left without access to adequate medical care for years. He criticized the government for failing to address these issues, stating that the neglect has exacerbated the hardships faced by the community.

Infrastructure deficiencies, including deteriorating roads and unreliable water supply, were also highlighted. Wehner noted that despite the constituency being home to the country’s major reverse osmosis water plant, many residents still struggle with dry taps. “What does it take to provide consistent water access in a constituency so critical to the nation’s water distribution system?” he asked.

Wehner also criticized what he described as “too little, too late” efforts by the government to initiate projects in the constituency ahead of the by-election. “For over a decade, nothing was done. Now, suddenly, they are rushing to fix roads and drains,” he said, questioning the timing of the initiatives.

As part of his campaign, Wehner is urging residents to register to vote and participate in what he described as a pivotal moment for the constituency. “This is about bringing true representation and relief to the people of St. Peter,” he said.

The by-election is scheduled for January 14, 2025.

  1. Wehner is lying about the water. J truth who lives in St. Peter already debunked that BEFORE his interview, which shows Wehner doesn’t even follow online discussions.

Infrastructure work has been ongoing since before the 2023 elections so what the hell is he talking about? George Wehner is just sad.

St. Peter people will eat him up. He is already rejected as an outsider. Now he has demonstrates that he doesn’t even know what the actual issues are. Failure to failure. He’s probably just reading from a list some UPP dunce element handed to him or outright lying like Wayne Marsh.

  2. The very same constitution that the UPP seems cannot do the slightest deviation from will bring about the end of the party and it’s inept leader. Does the UPP expect Whenner to come into the constituency and sweep it in less than a month? Really? Asot’s death was well over a month before the announcement of the date. Uo intol the announcement of a date they didn’t have a candidate. They are mourning for Asot while his family is hunkydory with the ALP. Now Gaston has caught them with their pants at their ankle and they are claiming readiness. Which ready? Where? I simply beg the five MPs that they already have to work in their onstituencies to keep it cause the leadership of the party is bent of destroying it. From such a high after the St Marys South by-election to a point of scrambling to be seen and heard. Pringle needs to go back and take a look at the life of Delano Christooher. She wanted to become first female commissioner of police knowing full well that it was above her pay grade and beyond her competence. When it was govern to her she was lost like asmall fish in the huge ocean. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely!!!!

  3. Gwarn up Georgie Porgie. A You dat. Tell dem u can secure de victory with 20 days to go 😆 🤣 😂

    St. George’s reject you, but St. Peters will tek you…..in dem cesspool 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

  4. Finally, a MP worthy of Parham. Mr. Wehner is 100% correct. Public education under the ALP is the worst in the WI and a regional embarrassment. Parham has not changed after 73 years of ALP representation. It’s time for change.

  5. Someone needs to ask George Wehner why he was dismissed from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force.

Is it true that he led an attempted mutiny against the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Brig. Trevor A. Thomas? Is it true that Wenher went to Balwdin Spencer while he was Prime Minister and expressed a desire to have the CDS removed and Spencer refused?

Is it true that Baldwin Spencer as Prime Minister had to call CDS Brig. Thomas and alert him of the plot by Wehner and as a result Wehner and some misguided junior officers were dismissed from the Defence Force because of attempted mutiny? Perhaps the Browne fellow who is jamming Insane in a Boot Camp knows something about it as well?

By the way, mutiny is a crime under the Defence Act.

For those who do not know, George Wehner is not trustworthy and needs to be exposed for who he is.

  6. Wehner needs to come clean about his “exit” from the ABDF!!! Also can his wife sit comfortably in her OWN home or is Wehner still have her in RENT??🤔

Women want to be able to put up their own curtains in their own house.

  7. Weiner, most people know, is a and even alleged with a penchant for drones and s. I hope that he is being closely monitored by the security forces in Antigua. Remember his distasteful political campaign ads of a few years ago when he had pictures of each of the ABLP political aspirants, including the now PM Gaston Browne being shot, BY HIM, in various parts of their bodies. He was never prosecuted. In fact, we’re it not for Balwun Spencer, then puppet PM of the UPP, he would most likely be still in jail on,charges of treason! Antuguans be aware and be alert! He has been chosen by the current chairman of their party, de jezebel Isaac, to contest the St.Peter seat in the upcoming by-election, the same creature who boldly declared that IT had a list of people IT would like to kill, once give a license to kill!!! Maybe the ex prime Minister who once boasted, while still in office, “Me hab mo gangs than you”. Antiguans, rouse from your sleep and pay keen attention. The UPPis desperate and with no moral compass whatsoever, will stop at NOTHING to create mayhem in Antigua as their means of seizing power. They know that they can depend on their ungrateful rat’s over yonder who have trying their young, useless minds in the art of military warfare. In fact their first intended attempt at invasion was to have taken place on the eve of November 1st 1981 while independence celebrations were going on. Antiguans wake up to the EVIL that is among us. In fact, I’ve been informed that their political inner circle are well aware of these plans and have had serious misgivings at engaging vintage the blood bath being contemplated by their rabid “leaders”. They did not resign because of any altruistic or moral reasons! Because of their upbringing and socialization, they simply cannot embrace the bloodthirsty, murderous plots of a madman on the loose.
Dr. Cleon Athill, Dr. Mansoor, Hon. Anthony Smith, young aspirant Ms. Edwards (rural south), Edghill and even the likes of Shawn Nicholas, are still humans at heart and would, it seems, prefer to distance itself from any bloodbath being contemplated by de jezebel and ITS gang of mercenaries. Pay Attention, Antiguans!

  9. Good day Mr Weiner. Now that you running, I hope you are not expecting some people to come and campaign for you. Like those who you went around to the branches telling the members not to vote for them at the convention, and the ones that you tear off you shirt and run up and down the hall telling them to tek dat inna dem nenen.

Nah, you can’t be so bareface.
Always look for tomorrow and who you piss off today.

  10. Joanne Massiah: "You want to entrust the economy to a man whose first degree is in ROCKS and DIRT?" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 Joanne Massiah: "You want to entrust the economy to a man whose first degree is in ROCKS and DIRT?" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Why u keep misspelling de man name?? It’s W-E-H-N-E-R

The other spelling is for a tiny hotdogs 🌭 🤣

  11. Many on here may not like Mr Wehner, but the man talk pure facts here, not one lie was spoken.

I had a sister who lived in Pahram for years before she finally migrated to England, but I remember when I use to visit her when I come home(80’s,90’s,2000’s) literally, mud was still coming out the public pipe that they used for fetching water, since that many in that area couldn’t afford to pay to have pipes run to their homes because of the massive expenses of such a project.

So I know the feelings of coming home to visit my sister, and had to help my little 7 year old nephew toute water back and forth, just so the family of 6 could get water to use.
I remember standing at that pipe for about 5 min before water start flowing, and then another 5 for the muddy water to run off first, before we fill up our jugs.

I also remember many times we came to the pipe and there is no water, or we had to run to get in line before water cut off. Sometimes (not a laughing matter) but my nephew friend would shout out to him when he pass by my sister house, to inform that “pipe hab warta”.

So no lies told here. I also remember when I come to the airport and stated my intended stay address, you get that look that people give you when they hear Pahram. Many considered Pahram to be a back of the bush village with very substandard living, and that’s because of the poverty and education standards that Mr Wehner speaks about.

So no lies here..many in Antigua knows that Pahram and the constituency of St Peter had been neglected for years by the ALBP, including the Late Asot Michael.

All facts. I don’t care who gets hurt by the truth, but I’ll stand for truth, because I praise a lie.

So tell me why would y’all continue to vote for these people? It’s time for the new generation to be represented properly..no more buying of votes. Time for the change in St Peter.

    • Britain you say? Typical of caribbean people who migrate legally or illegally to “meriKKKa”or ïngGlan” and think they are better than.

Plenty a are you have life rough no hell begging lodging in people basement, sleeping on kitchen floors and struggling to find a decent job. The same family that invite you to come, start to knock you bout and cut style pan are you.

We in Antigua are living WAY BETTER than you all that migrated to other neargah country and a struggle like hell!!!!

  12. Nice try, Islamabad 26. You just stay in your English ghetto and try to convince yourself that Antiguans are still impressed with the Windrush migrants. You are a straight up liar, typical of the party you obviously support. Nobody in Antigua has ever looked down on Parham, especially at the Immigration Desk at the Airport. In fact, Parham has always been respected, maybe not as openly as it should have been, as a former ‘capital of Antigua’ no less important than Falmouth. So, keep your blatant lies within the halls of your UPP lie factory. Stop deceiving simple, under-educated Antiguans who still live in awe of you people who now reside in Britain. Many, many, many Antiguans have visited relatives in Britain and are NOT impressed at all by your way of life and can’t wait to return to their homeland. So keep your criticism to yourself and among the other slum dwelling, racially abused Antiguan refugees abroad. Use your social activism to address your own problems in your adopted homeland and leave us to address ours! Sickening!

  13. when he done mek all he promises and win, he will pull one shuggy. He in opposition and can’t do nothing for dem!! st peters keep out dem good for -nutten, rotten upp party!

  14. And for the two fools who say I live in England, I do not live in England, I actually live in Florida for the past 32 years, and still have business in Antigua and come almost every year. Was just there in September. And we are not here talking about my standards of living, but the very lives that have to live under the burdensome government that continues to neglect its citizens.

Tell me one one that I spoke or Mr Wehner spoke of, Just one?

While y’all think that I’m calling down Antigua, I’m not.. I’m calling out the inept Government that is serving the people of St Peter, simple.
