Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s tribute to the governance skills and competencies of Asot Michael on December 21st, 2019, exactly three years ago, came more than 18 months after he left the Cabinet of Ministers following an interview with law enforcement officials in London in respect of which he has not been charged with any offense.
On Browne’s own admission, he teamed up with the MP for St Peters following the demise of the Antigua Labour Party at the 2004 general election in a “splendid partnership” that revived the ABLP of a period of 10 years.
He credits Asot Michael for playing a major role in returning the ABLP to government in 2014 and for the outstanding work that earned him the accolade of Caribbean Tourism Minister of the Year 2016.
Then on July 4th, 2020, the Prime Minister described Michael as the “absolute best” in building relations for the benefit of the State:
“They talking about building relations… The only man that has that skill and is superior to me is comrade Asot Michael… When it comes to building relations and leveraging connections comrade Asot Michael is the absolute best… I can say without any fear of contradiction that there is no one in this country within the UPP or any other political or non-political institution, private or public that have the type of capacity to build relations for the benefit of the State, compared to… comrade Asot Michael. None!”
The video on the servant leadership conduct of Asot Michael, highlights the hypocrisy of Gaston Browne who has flipped flopped, only in the last two years, in order to demonize and dehumanize his “sustaining friend and brother” as unfit for public office on account of alleged “governance flaws”.

Apart from Maria, the integrity commissioner are the biggest ghost worker in the country, they do nothing for taxpayers money when politicians who were writing bounce checks and couldn’t buy gas is now driving top of the line cars and building mansions all of a sudden on a minister’s salary.
I had to laugh after I watched this video on Gaston Browne’s SYRUPY words towards Asot Michael.
It reminded me of the time in 2014, when Gassy was encouraging fellow Antiguans and also the diaspora in the United Kingdom to invest in Antigua (including talks on CIP).
The Prime Minister used the same SYRUPY and SILKY words to business minded Antiguans. Very very persuasive, and he made you feel that everything that came flowing out of his mouth on that evening was the right thing to do.
He insisted that your finances were safe with ABLP’S POLITICAL guidance.

There is a calypso about a politician hating another politician because he can thief more than he. Me think Gaston no longer likes Asot because he knows all the Labour Party dirt and cannot be controlled like all the puppies in parliament. Asot could also have leadership ambitions and is viewed as a threat. Just remember the PM said on his show on Saturday, he only deals with millions.
This is the time for ALP to produce their accomplishments or lack thereof to voters. This nasty, dirty, smearing is washed up and not going to work with rational individuals. Jonathan Joseph addressed this non-issue. Why is Molyn Joseph, that incompetent, inept Health minister who has brought our health to degradation, taking to the airways to spill this ? How did he get access to this man’s file from Education? What a lawless, dirty minded set a people! Is nothing sacred for these ALP failures? Wow!
