FULL STORY: Man stabbed to death during altercation with friend

A 25 year-old resident of Yorks Village was last night stabbed on St. John’s Street (Point) near Booby Alley resulting in his death.

Gavin “Gav” Edwards was stabbed in his stomach allegedly during an altercation with a close friend at approximately 10 p.m.

Villagers told Antigua News Room (ANR) that Gavin came to the shop saying that he had been stabbed but initially no one took him seriously as he is known to be deviant at times.

An eye-witness said it was only after he collapsed on a table in front of the shop the neighbours responded to him.

Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and performed procedures en route to the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre.

The man was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the facility.

His friend was also taken to the hospital with a wound to the head incurred during the deadly altercation.

Sources say Anthony Joseph was in tears on news of his friend’s death.

Onlookers told ANR it is not certain why the two men were fighting because they were very close.

Lawmen could not provide an update when we visited the scene of the crime last night but Crime Scene Investigators were out in their numbers interviewing family members and others who may have information.

The police say investigations into the matter are ongoing.
