Jamaican Tiffanie Stephanie Howell has now received a seven-month prison sentence from Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel.

During her court appearance on Monday Howell admitted to escaping immigration custody.

Alongside another Jamaican woman, Donnalee Samantha Salmon, Howell broke out of a detention center on January 20.

Immigration initially flagged Howell due to her arrival on the island with a one-way ticket. Salmon remains at large, and the public is urged to report any information on her whereabouts.

    • Because she most likely told them she will be pleading. Prosecution has no work to do.
The not guilty pleas are the ones that takes up time. Prosecution now has a case to plan, witnesses to prepare, evidence to Colate, then when the case is finally called and ready to go, defense lawyer is unavailable, next time around a key prosecution witness have the flu, then the investigating Police Officer is on Leave. you get the idea

      • she plead guilty so thats why it handed down so quick if she couldn’t afford another half why didn’t wait until she had the money
she doesn’t even look sane to me on her pic sorry to judge.

  1. It depends on a few things. One of them that it was heard in the magistrate court, and she pleaded guilty, so it would be quick

  2. Wait is 1 month per day that they couldn’t find her?
I wish the murderers could get 1 year for everything years of life that person lived before they murdered them. 42 years old……..42 years in jail

  3. @ Ron
I raised the question in order for there to be comments on the issue of our Justice System

You addressed it better than I could have.

There is an old saying Justice delayed is justice denied.

It can be justice delayed and justice denied it the case of the Judicial murder of Nigel Christian, as well as his coworker who was earlier Knee-capped the earlier.

Among the characteristics of a Democracy is its legal system. Like most other policies, laws and custom which governs our lives is our legal system.

We can all agree the Court systems are a mess. An overwhelming majority of those who sits on top of the legal system are Nepo Babies who are gamming the system at the cost of justice.
Chief among them is the Attorney General who is fully aware that our legal systems need to be overhauled. Not to change the laws but to update and streamline procedures.

Many forget to write, argue or discuss the tragedy of those two Civil Servants were working on the introduction on the Canadian software package one of which purposes was to reduce graft and corruption at Saint John’s Port.

The Chinese are bringing software to the Port of Saint Johns for narcotics detection only; because the Chinese don’t want to get mixed up and b accused of narco-trafficking when they are embarking on a full press of their Belt and Road Program.

It’s a far cry from the fate of “Tiffanie Stephanie Howell” who is the subject matter here. But Antiguans and Barbudans need to read and understand the China and GOAB MOUs.

  4. this woman is not wanted in the country, she should return to her own country say the government. So let’s keep her here on Antigua for another 7 months, that will learn her!

  5. In spite of all the crime and robberies…the traumatized women and family….the Gunmen got a slap on the wrist…pay some money to the court…then what allow to find another gun and terrorize more households.
People are living in fear…afraid to close their eyes at night….and all we do charged the gunmen a fine for possession . Not even one criminal never revealed the source of where they got the weapons….them can always find gun so…gun must be growing on trees or sprouting from the earth for them can find gun so…
I’m sure these Jamaican women or their sponsors would rather be charged a fine and send back to their country…than prison time.
Jail the gunmen them….take them off the street for 7 or 8 months or maybe more.
