Devonica Phillip has expressed her frustration regarding an incident that occurred in 2018. She explained that her fence was damaged by a campaign vehicle driven by an underage school child.

The police were called to the scene, and the representative for the All Saint East and Saint Luke area was also notified about the urgent situation, as a light pole was also affected and required replacement.

Upon the arrival of the police, the young man who was driving the vehicle attempted to deny his involvement, and his older brother tried to take responsibility for the incident.

However, Devonica Phillip witnessed the entire event and made sure to inform the officers about the true sequence of events.

The representative then pleaded with the police, emphasizing that if the young man was arrested or charged, it would have long-lasting consequences on his record.

The representative assured the police, the Syrian owner of the car, and both Devonica Phillip and her mother that he would take care of the fence repair. Despite multiple requests made in 2018 and over the years, no action has been taken to fix the damage as of 2023.

The Syrian owner of the car offered to repair the fence, acknowledging that his vehicle had clearly caused the damage, but his offer was declined, with the assurance that the matter would be dealt with.

Later, the Syrian gentleman asked once again if he could repair the fences, expressing his desire to avoid any problems, as it was evident that his vehicle was responsible for the damage.

Again, his request was denied. Subsequently, the gentleman had his car removed, the light pole was cut down, and the electricity company removed the lamppost on the same day.

As of June 6, 2023, Colin James has not fulfilled his promise to fix the fence. Despite attempts to contact him through calls, texts, and in-person encounters, including during his live radio appearances, no progress has been made.

A few days prior to the election, James arrived in a white pickup truck and brought someone to assess the materials needed for the fence repair, but no further action was taken.

Devonica Phillip urgently requests the repair of her fence, as she believes that if the situation were reversed, she would have faced severe consequences until the matter was resolved.

She expresses her frustration with those who support Colin James’s indifference towards the issue and believes it is unjust and unfair. She has reached the end of her patience and appeals for the damage to be repaired, both where the car caused visible damage and where the wall was broken due to the impact.

She compares the swift replacement of a costly lamppost to the prolonged delay in fixing the fence.

She expresses exhaustion with the excuses given and emphasizes her desire for prompt resolution.

She concludes her message with the hashtag #FIXUM, indicating her insistence on the matter being addressed.

  1. This is an extremely sad situation. Colin James has never won his seat and so should not have been speaking on this matter as representative if he did. If they Syrian man wanted to fix the fence, he should have been allowed the opportunity, but I guess egos got involved. I trust that Mr, James will take funds from his pocket to remedy the issue and avoid speaking out of turn in the future. Also, the young man should have received some sort of reprimand in lieu of not having a permanent mark on his record. It seems the only individual that suffered loss is the property owner, which is dead wrong, but an all too common practice in Antigua and Barbuda.

  2. Collin James no tired have his name mixed up in all kind a promises he can’t keep. His name is always being called in all kind of negative situations.Collin James go and fix the woman fence.

  3. Am I missing something, why was the offer made by the owner of the vehicle to fix the fence turned down not once but twice? Why was the property owner so adamant that she only wanted the political representative to fix her fence? Colin the woman love you…ah you she want. Lol
