Michael Freeland has secured the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidacy for St. George and is now focused on rebuilding the party’s branch in the constituency.
Freeland won Tuesday’s primary with 360 votes, defeating media personality Joel Rayne (331), former senator Bakisha Francis-James (142), and entrepreneur Salim Browne (42). A total of 1,611 people were eligible to vote at Potters Primary School.
After a close first-round count, Freeland edged ahead, sealing victory in the final tally. Following the announcement, all four candidates embraced, while Freeland’s supporters celebrated.
“This win feels even better than the first time,” he said. “Now it’s time to unite, strengthen the team, and bring St. George back to the ABLP. The people deserve better, and I’m here to deliver.”
Freeland will now challenge incumbent United Progressive Party MP Algernon ‘Serpent’ Watts in the next general election.

I had money in my car. It opened the door and ran away. Has anyone seen or heard from the missing money? How it is he could not run in the last election. Because the DAWG kicked him to the curb. Did it involve missing Auction monies. Browne, Birds, Freeland, all cut from the same cloth and stuck together. What a damn shame.
Joel Rayne would have been the better candidate. Hope they have a run off between him and Freeland since it was so close. Time for descent candidates to be in politics and not people who have been accused of all sorts of shady things.
A runoff is not needed. All candidates have ACCEPTED THE RESULTS!!!!
