A 69-year-old woman, Esmeralda Martin, is facing more than 70 charges for allegedly selling a parcel of land that did not belong to her.

Prosecuted alongside her husband, Elridge ‘Jury’ Martin, who faces 30 charges related to the incident, the couple is accused of fraudulent conversion and larceny, among other offenses.

The complainant claims to have made multiple payments totaling $55,490 for the land, believing it was purchased from Elridge, who advertised it on social media.

However, upon attempting to obtain the deed and title, the complainant discovered the land did not belong to the Martins, leading to the police investigation and charges being filed. (OBSERVER)

  1. It’s sad it took so long for this family to get charged for their practices with selling land.

    • Why that person didn’t just go too Chappa or housing and pay on a house .Hope they get their money back or the Court take back something from them and give it too who ever pay them the “MONEY “

  2. I am surprised at the level of business savvy from people who have over $50,000 to spend. Wouldn’t it make sense to check the official ownership of land before transferring money? Are the victims teenagers?

  3. Sometimes it na good to have too much. The more dem hab the more dem want. Check y’all records its not now y’all going around doing this to poor people. That person who have it, you should be more careful who do transaction with. These cash transactions shouldn’t happen without lawyers. I hope you too are not at a loss in this.
