Four COVID-19 Patients Still Recovering

Presently, of the 25 confirmed cases of Covid, only four remain positive, two of whom are hospitalized and the other two isolated.

Cabinet in consideration of the effective containment of Covid, has agreed to further relaxation of the restrictions.

Consequently barbers, hairdressers and cosmetologists could now ply their trade, commencing Monday May 11, 2020.

During the next forty eight hours, the Ministry of Health will establish the public health protocols under which these business will operate.

Bars, night clubs and casinos and gyms will remain closed.

Restrictions on outward money transfer services have been lifted.

The restriction for two individuals per vehicle was lifted. However, we strongly recommend that only members of the same household should travel together.

Protocols for the reopening of churches are being worked out with the stakeholders and service should resume shortly, under the new protocols.

The Cabinet also agreed to make $100M in loans and credit guarantees, to small and medium sized businesses to assist with their liquidity and to preserve jobs.

In addition, the $10M cash grants program will commence this week, while we phase out the food grant program.

Several public and private sector Capital projects will be pursued to support job creation and to buffer the economic fall out from Covid.

The 12 hour curfew and the requirements for social distancing, the mandatory wearing of a mask and personal hygiene etiquette remain in place.
