A former police officer, Karim Warner, has been sentenced to one year in prison for discharging a firearm in a public place.
The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel, following Warner’s conviction for the incident, which occurred on 3 December 2022 near Emerald Cove Resort in Willikies.
Warner was found guilty of firing 12 rounds at a white Toyota Mark X that had two people inside. No injuries were reported.
The case has drawn attention due to Warner’s previous role in law enforcement and the potential dangers posed by the public discharge of firearms.
Magistrate Emanuel emphasised the seriousness of the offence, noting the risk to public safety.

Which prison? Headquarters prison?
Asking for a friend
He rass should get a year for each shot he fire
Former so he is fired
Hope kevin warner dont drop the soap
In life we just have to be very Careful as law enforcement officers, and and private firearms holder as well of how we fire our firearms in public places…
That was a serious offence. He fired too many rounds because he cannot shoot. About 3 to 4 rounds could burst the tires. Now the driver had the vehicle without his permission according to the news from the court or his contract up. Will the driver pay for all the time he had the man vehicle without his consent ?
Yup. Former Police Officer. There is something somewhere that states something to the effect that once a police officer is convicted of a crime, he loses his job. That’s probably why he broke down upon hearing the guilty verdict. Losing his police Job is possibly the biggest punishment here.
But I say he is lucky. The charge he got was ‘Firing a gun in public’. Really. This is not a case of him shooting at a dog. This is not a case of a drunk person shooting in the air. He shot at an occupied vehicle. That is attempted murder. Or at the least ‘shooting with intent’.
Lesson learned here for Officers. Know how to separate personal issues from work.
@Little Johnny: Do you really want to ask that question? What about the psychological impact on the driver for having 12 rounds fired at you?
I have nothing against the officer but I believe he should have known better and I think the law was extremely lenient on his side.
He need more time than that cuz mongoose gets 3 yrs for a gun an y’all really wanna give this police 1 year after firing 12 rounds at ppl that was in a car y’all have to be crazy So this ya a friend an company now just wow
A mere1 year for bussing 12?? Wow.
Will he be recruited by UPP?
The man got away with attempted murder, and people on here talking about justice was served.
Antiguan’s are the bamboozled people in the entire world.
When are you people going to wake up that this government is as soft as it gets on crime..
That’s a mandatory 10 or more years in any other civilized world. The man used his weapon to terrorize the public. The people who heard those gunshots I’m sure couldn’t sleep for days.
Antigua is really a joke place, and it starts with the joke of an administration.
So he was fired-why could it not end there? He looks fresh probably just got carried away. Not like someone got hurt..Understand he was reckless -but sometimes we should ask ourselves if its really worth it destroying someone’s life for one simple mistake-all humans are capable of making mistakes..Nothing for people to be rejoicing over either-but it seems as though lots of people walk around with dark spirits -and enjoy watching the sufferings of others…These are some of the very same people who would seek empathy if them or a family member just happen to be caught up with the law under whatever circumstance..
My question is…while be be placed at the prison? Or will they give him special accommodation?
Don’t be surprised by the outcome. That’s antigua and barbuda
And when he serve his time he will return and do some other shit. Question…Will his recorded be wiped clean after that?
After that case took so long how he getting a short sentence? Anyway boy…evil will never done
Wow. One year. What if someone had died? He should be sentenced as if someone had in fact died because to fire all these shots mean you were out to kill. Son of a nine month….
One month per bullet. He lucky it wasn’t 24 rounds. Learn your lesson
Maximum sentence is 2 years, so he got half
@oh boy.
So there in lie the problem. Firing that amount of rounds in public can be considered a terroristic move, because in this current climate of gun violence in Antigua, that’s what that will do to the occupants of the vehicle and those in the neighborhood who heard all these gunshots..go on their house and Lock up fearing to even go outside. That’s a terroristic move, and it was intended to do just that with 12 shots..that means he ran out of bullets, otherwise it would have been more shots.
A simple mistake is firing one shot, but emptying your clip is clearly malicious intent.
That’s the problem with the sentencing laws in Antigua, so now we have lawlessness all across the board.
And for the record, firing bullet at tires to not stop a car from moving..I can can drive for miles on a flat tire, so this man wanted to stop the driver, not the car..the driver probably handles his driving very well, and that’s why no one got hit .but it was clearly attempted murder. No one is pulling their gun just fire shots ot no damn tires, that’s not how cops are trained or how their instincts work. If they pull their weapon, it’s to kill.
So if the judge believes that garbage, it’s on here..but not me. I know how human psychology works. It’s kill or be killed.
