Former Police Commissioner Wendel Alexander to Appeal High Court Dismissal in Judicial Review Case

4

Former Commissioner of Police Wendel Alexander will appeal a High Court decision dismissing his case challenging his 2019 termination by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

Justice Jan Drysdale ruled that the PSC acted reasonably and fairly, rejecting claims from Alexander’s attorney, Wayne Benjamin Marsh, that the termination was illegal, in bad faith, and breached natural justice.

Marsh expressed shock at the ruling and vowed to take the case to the Privy Council if necessary. He noted that Alexander’s termination occurred while other legal challenges to his suspension were pending.

Meanwhile, PSC attorney Dr. David Dorsett welcomed the decision, citing public interest and concerns over Alexander’s alleged inability to work with the Public Safety Minister and other issues, including accusations of victimization, which Alexander denies.

Dr. Dorsett stated the PSC is prepared to address Alexander’s pending cases.
