Former PM Spencer says PM Browne’s ‘childish’ lies indicate a need for validation

Dr. Baldwin Spencer, former prime minister, is categorically denying sentiments and statements attributed to him by Prime Minister Gaston Browne and carried by certain online publications yesterday, April 17.

Browne claimed that, during an unspecified visit with him, Spencer made remarks that were critical of his own style of governance and complimentary about Browne’s handling of his Cabinet.

“The prime minister’s story is unsubstantiated, vague, and completely misrepresents my character,” Dr. Spencer says.

“His account is totally fabricated and demonstrates a rather childish need for approval and validation that – clearly – he is not receiving from his own party,” the former prime minister adds.

Spencer also notes Browne’s self-satisfaction with his “handling” of his Cabinet and says this indicates “his tendency toward dictatorship, rather than a cooperative relationship with his colleagues.”

That PM Browne prefers to spin such stories to discredit members of the United Progressive Party (UPP) – rather than concentrate on building a legacy of tangible achievements – is pitiable, Dr. Spencer concludes.

A week ago, Browne was exposed in another self-congratulatory lie, this time targeting MP Jamale Pringle, Political Leader of the United Progressive Party.

  1. Hence my comments yesterday. April 17, 2024 At 3:07 pm
This is what this man (Gaston Browne) is pre occupied with? Sounds childish quite frankly.

  2. This is the same BS who pointed out one of his heroes is Niccolo Machiavelli. The court on multiple occasions essentially pointed out he was dictator by highlighting his attempts to disobey court rulings. One of them in the LB defaming suit, ruled he was motivated by malice when he told lies about former PM Bird. I rather doubt you would find credible persons willing to serve under BS again, However Asot Michael would bend over backwards for the chance to be a part of a GB cabinet.

    • @ tenman

      OK foolish virgin.
Anything you utter out of your mouth in support of the ABLP and Gaston should be taken with a pinch of salt.
What a bunch of LIARS U ALL ARE!
Birds of a feather flock together, especially when they are turncoats.

“I find that the First Defendant was actuated by malice. I have taken into account firstly that the First Defendant made use of the occasion of the political rally for an improper purpose. He was not motivated by any sense of duty to publish the material complained of, but was propelled by political gain, namely that of damaging the Claimant politically, and thus scoring political mileage for himself.”

If you wish I can also share what the US justice department said about BS re the John Ashe matter and dirty money in his account

  3. Well said your Most Honourable Baldwin Spencer 👍🏾

The tide is definitely turning against Gaston Browne’s “childish” and delinquent behaviour. We’ve all seen it before, and we are SICK and TIRED of it.

The opposition party is fed-up; you get the feeling that Caribbean Parliamentarians are thinking what the hell is going on with him; and you feel that potential large corporations and businesses are staying well clear of investing here because of him, due to the stories about depositors not getting their own money back after investing here; and don’t forget the MISSING hurricane Irma $1 million dollars fund that the Barbudan’s are still waiting on 6 years (six) after that terrifying event.

The hardworking tax paying citizens of Antigua who have showed COMMENDABLE restraint in wage delays, overdue/or delayed overtime payments, and despite the Prime Minister’s recent tax rises we still don’t complain – as I said commendable!

WE MORE THAN FED-UP OF GASTON’S “CHILDISH” LIES AND BEHAVIOUR …

  4. What amazes me is that despite any complaints or new information, the general public voted him back in office. You had a chance!!! Just don’t make the same mistake again.

  5. I actually believe the PM when he says that the former PM privately remarked on his style of leadership. His favorite phrase is, “in terms of..” In 2004, he also coined the phrase, “would have” in lieu of “had” and it had now become a part of interview media marketplace across Antigua and Barbuda by many.

  6. JOHN ASHE dun expose this geriatric 🤡 for KICKBACKS and GREED!!!

Go sit down somewhere and quit making a 🤡 of yourself. Go lotion your ankles and take some Magnesium pills to help you sleep at night. Hug up your wife and whisper sweet nothings in her ear.

Your DISMAL political mess of a career is over, but we still live with the scars.

    • And Gaston giving kick backs to his family and cronies obvious in broad daylight….. clear as day nepotism. I guess is acceptable in your eyes….? 🤔

  7. I can not speak of what Baldwin Spencer is here taking about but I heard Pringle live for myself. So I don’t know what lie people are claiming that the PM said about Pringle.
