Former Jolly Beach Employees to Begin Receiving Severance Payments on December 15

The Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union has announced that the distribution of cheques to former workers of Jolly Beach Resort, will begin on Thursday, December 15, 2022.

The union says the payment is for severance, vacation, thrift fund and back pay.

Former members of the housekeeping department will receive payments between 10am and midday on Thursday, December 15, followed by former kitchen staff between 12:30pm and 2pm.

Former dining room staff will receive their cheques between 2:30pm and 4pm.

The cheque-distribution continues on Friday, 16th December, with former security, water sports, grounds and maintenance staffers receiving their payments between 10am and midday.

Those who worked in the front office, entertainment and all other departments will receive their payments between 12:30pm and 2pm.

The ABWU is advising staffers to bring valid Government-issued identification as it will not be issuing cheques without this.

  2. Finally whew….again the union fees is also part of the millions that the Government paid thru the lawyers…so please AWU don’t tax the workers them.
    The thrift fund is it both the workers deduction plus the jolly Beach matching portion….I do hope.

  4. Good job done by the ABLP led government. Unfortunately the union was too busy enjoying the bribes from the company to actually work. One need only realize that nothing was put in place to protect the thrift fund to see the union was in bed with those who looted this property. My mind goes back to an election where Ralph Francis ran against another candidate. Francis was quick to ask the question where his opponent (UPP ticket) got all this campaign money (war chest) from. Said in all his years in politics, he had never such a large war chest at play. One then thinks back to the 2018 election and the same candidate had more money to campaign then any of his other UPP colleagues (even HL). The one for rural east (Young) was so resourced starved that he had to be standing on ladder, putting up his own campaign paraphernalia
