A flash flood watch is in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, and St. Kitts and Nevis until 2 p.m. today, Tuesday.
This means that moderate to major flooding is possible, but not imminent. Flash flooding can be very dangerous.
Residents in affected areas should prepare for flooding to safeguard life and property and be ready to move to higher ground if flooding rains develop or a flash flood warning is issued.
Instability and moisture from a tropical wave are causing periodic heavy showers over the Leeward Islands.
Up to an inch of rain has already fallen in some places over the past 12 hours, with another inch or more likely in the next 12 hours.
Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the weather situation. Please stay tuned to local radio or television for updates and possible warnings.
