Fisheries Division Enforces Closed Season For All Listed Species

0

Due to the numerous reports of landings of undersized conch and lobster by unregistered fishers and the surge of new entrants into the fisheries raising concerns about the sustainability of the various fisheries, the Fisheries Division will be actively enforcing the closed season for all listed species.

All fishers, vendors, restaurants and retailers are advised that it is illegal for a person to fish for, take, place for sale, purchase or have in possession any of the listed species during the closed season. Failure to comply carries a maximum fine of EC$50,000.

Please also note that the use of a local vessel for fishing without registration carries a maximum fine of EC$100,000. We ask all stakeholders to please adhere to the fisheries rules and regulations which help to secure sustainable fisheries for all.
