Over the Christmas break, some of our 1st-year students took on the challenge of gaining hands-on experience at various hotels and resorts across Antigua and Barbuda.
One highlight was their time at Hodges Bay Resort & Spa, where six Culinary Arts students had the opportunity to work alongside Executive Chef Stan Baxter and Executive Sous Chef Brian Abbott.
This opportunity, not typically offered to first-year students, showed just how passionate and ready they are to step into the industry.
As the term has just begun, we were delighted to have Chef Baxter and Chef Abbott take time out of their busy schedules to visit the students at the institute and share their gratitude along with words of encouragement.
We’re so proud of our students and remain committed to training for excellence as we prepare them to meet the demands of this growing industry.

Yes teach our young people the new slavery of cooking for tourists and washing clothes for them and call it a wonderful career. The hospitality industry on any island is made to further degrade the island population with menial labor while telling them it’s a great opportunity to showcase island pride. What a crock a crap!!!!! It also looks from this picture that one of the students uniform is dirt as an unwashed bathroom, might be the lighting however but it looks like a dirty unwashed uniform to me
Joke town Antigua, it’s a disgrace that someone sat down to type comment like frl. Those students worked hard to earn the opportunity at Hodges bay. I personally think that you commented that being you’re miserable. Your career didn’t go wear you had hoped for it to go and instead of expounding on whatever experience you have to better yourself, you’re over here talking about dirty clothes. It’s a culinary school. Students will me in the kitchen and all around the place. Of course the shirt isn’t going to remain white but in this case it is the lighting because I was there when they picture was taken so kindly hush yah mouth and gwan cool
Ciara Dyer my career was wonderful as I’m now retired and collecting my pension on a regular basis, I retired at the age of 43 as a matter of fact. I did say it might be the lighting I guess it’s not hard to be a chef as spelling and reading must not be needed to boil water. You have a great weekend and STFU and qwan cool yourself.
Ciara Dyer I myself had a great career and retired at the age of 43 thank you. I did say in my comment that it was probably lightning, if you took the time to read the comment also you need to learn how to spell however, I guess being a chef as I’m guessing you are the skill of spelling and reading isn’t necessary to boil water. Have a wonderful weekend.
43 and can’t spell lightning is CRAZY. I do know how to read, write and spell. Since you’re retiring and have nothing better to do, go back to kindergarten. God bless
Joke town antigua wow..what a nice name…after retiring from such a great career you stay home and troll and discouraged the yutes of tomorrow over what something as simple as that? I agree with Ciara who says he knew they were coming to walk with an extra shirt…life happens no need to talk down on the future of OUR country the same “slavery of cooking for tourist” is that powers the country and ensure you get your little pension money on time.
Have a good night
The recent post received some constructive criticism. While we appreciate all feedback, we will use these comments as fuel to further refine our skills and knowledge in the culinary arts. We believe that challenges and setbacks are valuable learning experiences that will ultimately drive us towards greater success in our chosen field of gastronomy.
Joke town Antigua, by your username alone I think we could all see the negativity projecting from inside you. A lot of normal retired people take the time off to enjoy life and reflect and relax. But since your career was not as successful as you probably want it to be. You decided to cry and moan under what should be a positive post. At 43 you’re still stuck online hating on kids? Must be nice to know your ‘success’ hasn’t bought you peace of mind just bitterness and jealousy. Your ignorance is laughable.
Thanks for all the feedback however, at the end of the day. I couldn’t give a FLYING RATS BUTTHOLE about the simple fact that all you antiguans will ever be able to do is boil water and clean rooms for tourists. That’s a great job to tell your kids and grandkids about much success with that YAH BIG DUMMIES….
