Firefighter hospitalized after accident at airport

A firefighter is now receiving treatment in hospital after the unit he was driving overturned on the compound of the VC Bird International Airport.

 

The incident happened shortly after 9am Easter Monday as the fire truck was being test-driven.

 

The unit, which is part of the fleet of the Coolidge Station, overturned on a section of the compound.

  1. Hope firefighter recovers and is able to explain.

    Meantime, how long will that equipment be out of service?
    Where will alternative equipment be moved from as international airport has specific safety criteria that must be in place 24/7.
    How will the community the equipment is moved from, be serviced?
    Hopefully these points will be addressed clearly & promptly by powers that be.

    • The truck should be fully insured at State Insurance Corporation.
      The driver will have a lot to explain regarding reckless driving on the airport compound.
      I am sure the fire chief will do the investigation. Some form of suspension should got to the driver for this.
