Fire Truck Flips In Cedar Valley Gardens Leaving Two Firefighters Injured

5

A fire truck was flipped on its side while turning a corner in Cedar Valley Gardens yesterday afternoon injuring two firefighters.

The two firefighters riding in the back of the tender were rushed to the hospital by fellow officers, reports say, although the extent of their injuries was not disclosed.

Reports say the driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle while attempting a turn, and it flipped onto its side, coming to rest against the fence of a neighbourhood resident.

Correspondent George Wehner, a retired military officer, says he believes the weight of the water tank could have contributed to the accident. “The amount of water in the tank changes the center of gravity of the vehicle, owing to centrifugal force,” he explains.

It is not yet known whether the truck is among the tenders recently imported and commissioned by the Fire Department.

  1. I guess this is one of the trucks left behind by the USA Airforce.
I think we need to investigate what really happened here. A big truck like that doesn’t turn over just so.
    Were these guys just joyriding?
    We need answers.

    • The truck had tons of mechanical problems, brakes would stop work while driving, air pressure would not build, lights wouldn’t come on while driving at nights the list goes on. The bigger heads within the Fire Department should be blamed because they knew about all the defects the truck had and they still insist water deliveries be made to members of the public. So what you expect would eventually happen?

  2. Could they have been speeding? Editor,it would be nice to tell us where Cedar Valley Gardens is located. There seems to be many new names being added to existing areas in Antigua.

  3. My mother and I witnessed them driving on Bendals Road yesterday and they nearly hit us due to the vehicle being driven way to fast. Sadly, I was not at all surprised when I saw this headline.
