Fire at the Cooks Sanitary Landfill is presently under control

UPDATE:

The fire at the Cooks Sanitary Landfill is presently under control.

Burning areas have been sectioned off and are being covered with top soil to deprive it of any remaining oxygen. (Oxygen is one of the main components required to sustain a fire)

Unfortunately, surrounding areas such as Five Islands will still experience some residual smoke over the next few days until everything has dissipated.

    • Yes I suspect Lovell would have smothered the fire out in record time with literal tax payer money.

  1. This must be very unhealthy for the people of Five Islands. They are for most part in the line of the smokes coming from that dump.I wish you folks, well.

  2. It will continue to burn for several days unfortunately. The ground
    water will suffer.

  3. Why there are so many tires at that dump? Perhaps the Administration should try and recycle those tires back to a Tire Manufacturer in the USA and or Europe. They in turn would crush them and build new tires.
