The St Lucia-based East Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) has donated 50 thousand EC dollars towards the Barbuda recovery effort.

Acting Managing Director of ECTEL Andrew Millette made the presentation Monday to Director of the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) Philmore Mullin. “I think it’s really important that we all try to contribute to help Barbuda to rebuild and today I’m here to hand over a cheque of 50 thousand EC dollars to aid in this reconstruction”, Millette said.

Millette said ECTEL had committed to provide support to Dominica and Antigua and Barbuda following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Maria and Irma respectively.

Director of NODS Philmore Mullin says he appreciates the assistance offered and looks forward to continued support from ECTEL and others. He says there is a list of priorities which NODS will look at before determining the use of the funds. Minister of Information the Hon. Melford Nicholas, who was also present, said this will be part of government’s plans to further improve the telecommunications infrastructure on Barbuda to ensure that communication is always sustained.

  1. Thank you ECTEL. Not a good photo of Melford. He looks like he needs to release a fart. Either that or he is packing on some earl Christmas pounds or he chose the wrong tailor for his jacket.

  2. Thank you for this donation, the people of Antigua and Barbuda thank you for your generous contribution to our rebuilding effort. Thank you so much!
