All students of the Antigua State College, except the A Level department students, will resume classes on Monday, November 6, 2017.

A Level students will resume classes on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

All members of staff are required to report to work on Monday November 6, 2017.

Sources have informed Antigua News Room (ANR) that construction workers have been working steadfastly over the weekend at the Antigua State College to have the institution ready for Monday when classes are scheduled to resume.

Buildings are being painted, bathroom’s constructed, faulty electrical wiring repaired, and termites fumigated, according to reports.

The college went on its mid-term break a few days early at the end of October after a plank fell from the auditorium ceiling and hit a student who had to seek medical attention.

Staff and students later revealed that the college was in a deep state of neglect and other maintenance issues needed to be addressed urgently.

Minsiter of Education Michael Browne then shut the school down and requested an engineering assessment by the Public Works Department.

Incidentally, the school was only a few days away from the start of the scheduled mid-term break on Friday October 27. The break ends Monday, November 6; but it is not clear if enough work has been completed to make the college a safe environment for staff, faculty and students.
