The Festival Commission announced over the weekend, the search for the next promising performer in Antigua & Barbuda.

Chairman Maurice Merchant said the initiative is called “Next On Stage.” He made the disclosure while addressing the start of the second annual Community Carnival in Piggots.

He reveled that performers will take to the stage as the community carnivals are held in various villages.

According to Merchant, in the end, a winner will be selected and that individual will get to perform at the annual Melting Pot concert during Antigua’s 60th carnival.

Three individuals/groups participated in the first leg of the competition in Piggots, singing a variety of Soca tunes.

Community Carnival also saw performances by Claudette Peters, Menace, Zamoni, Janine and others.
