Prison Officer Charged After Alleged Marijuana Possession

A prison officer is facing criminal charges after allegedly being caught with more than 200 grams of marijuana, well above the legally permitted amount.

Saskia Nanton was detained alongside two other women during a police stop-and-search operation last week. All three were reportedly found with marijuana in their possession.

They were arrested, charged, and later appeared in court, where they were granted bail. The matter has been adjourned pending further proceedings.

  1. Law enforcers are at the top of the food chain when it comes to eating off the so called illegal drug trade.

  2. Our system is so biased and wicked it is not even funny. I am sure she wont be placed at her job …THE PRISON. Instead she will be on bail forever and still making her money

  3. All the drugs smuggled into the prison and we wondering how these prisoners get these contraband. Bam!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We know where now

  4. Had it been a normal civilian, you would’ve charged him some good money or some months behind the gates. But an officer enit? Oh

  5. She knew right from wrong. Why wasn’t she remanded like they’ll do any other person? She of all persons should know the law but power is what it’s called

  6. The government is the reason for all the illegal growing, selling, trafficking and transporting of marijuana.
Firstly they passed a decriminalization law which I did not have a problem with. Since people who had criminal records and prevented from getting in university for a blunt found in their pocket for example, could get those expunged. However , they never educated the public that it didn’t mean legalization. So today on market street guys are driving by with their splifs in mouth. On the construction sites marijuana is served like food. Marijuana smoking and selling is prominent among secondary and primary school children alike.
Then the government went further and encouraged personal growing of four trees on your personal property. One marijuana plant can produce easily a pound of marijuana. Yet by law one is allowed just a few grams . This is contradictory by itself and could cause jail time for many marijuana growers of the four legally grown plants. If you harvest your four legally grown plants and store them in your house. Then the police for what ever reason carry out a legal search on in your house and find marijuana you harvested from your four legally grown plants you will end up in prison. The high price and increased demand , coupled with the high cost of living is tempting to grow the four plants legally and sell the harvest illegally.
The worst yet is the so call license growers. Those that were given licenses to grow for medicinal purposes and religious purposes ( the Rastas sanctuary communities). These guys are growing marijuana to smoke and to sell to the general public for smoking purposes primarily. They are becoming very wealthy, by just growing and selling marijuana for smoking to the public. You can go to any of these Rasta communities and make arrangements to purchase marijuana to sell over to the public. They are doing this in the open. People just drive to these sites and buy marijuana. The large amount like pounds you can get in a secret with the bosses.
What security these so called legal growers have in place from praedial larceny? Just drive up Ras Freeman and you will see the openness. So what they do if someone is caught stealing their marijuana ? We have heard of farmers taking people to court. You never hear these communities taking anyone to court for stealing their marijuana. The rumors suggest Hmmmmmmm.
In Jamaica a legend grower must have a fortress of a fence, Razor wires etc on the top. You don’t have access to these properties. Drive up Ras freeman or any of the others and you can just drive right in freely and buy. The legal growers in Jamaica have incinerators to burn every piece of scrap not used for medicinal purposes. They must give account for every plant. When you go to these Rasta communities you see the piles of dry stocks, thrown away after harvest and sale to John public for smoking purposes primarily.
So the end result can be visibly seen, with the young Zumbies working on our streets, the amount of deranged young people at ClareVue and at 1735.
So the government has completely mismanaged the entire process.
Notice said mismanaged. That I also made reference to the legal growers in Jamaica. So I am not completely against the growing of Marijuana legally for medical purposes. I also think if the Rasta communities growing for their sacramental purposes can be managed properly, of course with proper legal frameworks they should be allowed. That the legal growers be allowed to sell to Adults only the small portion for recreational purposes again under strict legal framework.
The horse has bolted and it’s time to save an entire generation of young people and children at that.
The politicians or political parties in Antigua are not speaking out against these just for a few votes.
Recently the government even went further and handed these growers that are perpetuating all these illegal practices an Excevator to expand their illegal businesses. Yes they might have the right to grow legally and that is as far as they go.
Ha ha ha even worse yet , you see farmers, vegetable farmers next to these marijuana facilities, working their hinds off, sometimes alone, to provide the much banded about food security. Our poultry farmers abused for wanting better prices to remain sustainable. Our schools agriculture farmers are over grown for lack of equipment. Yet the Rasta communities that is making hundreds of thousands of dollars are handed free equipment.
Guys we need to set our priorities straight.
The weak opposition is useless, the government is on board to stay in power. So the parents, the community members, the police, law enforcement, the unions- teachers and nurses, the doctors you see the negative effects. The employers you see the type of employee you get . Contractors and architects and engineers don’t you long for a day that you can go on a construction site and see workers working without splifs in mouth.
