Female police officer arrested for permitting her unlicensed daughter to drive vehicle involved in fatal accident

REAL NEWS: Woman Police Corporal Tulip Horsford reportedly has been arrested and charged for permitting her daughter, who is not the holder of a driver’s licence, to operate her vehicle, which resulted in the death of a teenager from Nut Grove.

On May 19, the Police confirmed the passing of Keane Gregoire, an 18-year-old who had been critically injured in a traffic accident in the early hours of Thursday, May 18.

Earlier media reports claimed that the vehicle – a grey Toyota BB – had been traveling at high speed when it skidded off the All Saints Road and slammed into a concrete column.

Following the collision, it was alleged that the driver had fled the scene, and the Police had appealed for that person to turn himself/herself in at any station without delay.

However, Police sources now allege that the “other passenger” in the vehicle – reported to be a 19-year-old from Freemans Village – was actually the driver.

While Horsford has been charged, REAL News was unable to determine whether any charges have been laid, so far, against the alleged unlicensed driver, her daughter.

Our Newsroom was also unable to ascertain whether the young woman has been discharged from the hospital, where the two victims had been taken following the accident.

Meanwhile, the sources say the officer is a veteran with more than 20 years service to the Force. They recall that, in 2007, on the eve of Cricket World Cup, she, herself, had been involved in a serious vehicle accident.

Reportedly, the police vehicle that she was driving overturned on Jonas Road, resulting in Horsford sustaining a serious spinal injury that required surgery in Trinidad.

  1. This article makes mention of the driver hitting the column but it doesn’t say anything about hitting the victim.

  2. So, now the young man from Freeman village was driving. Lord Jesus help us. God knows and sees it all. Me na take no rap for nobody not even my own shadow.

    • It wasn’t a young man driving, the young man was the passenger in the car. He died.
the police officer’s daughter was the one who was driving. She was driving her mother’s car. She was unlicensed and speeding she crashed into a column, her car flipped twice. She had minor injuries and the victim had severe brain damage and passed away the next morning.

  8. Many Police Personnel think they are above the Laws of the Land. They had better realize that they are supposed to enforce the Laws of said Land. That no one, no one is the Laws of the Land.

  9. Think she was charged because she knowingly allowed her daughter to drive her car without a license.

  10. Antigua full up a unlicensed and uninsured drivers. Dem only get caught when dem get inna wan accident, and most times dem try run fram de scene. Anytime you hear hit an run, nah wonder, de driver either na have no license or dem license expired, or de car na hab no insurance. More traffic cops needed to stop and verify dat drivers an dem qualify to be driving pan de road.
